En el sur del sexto distrito comercial estamos orgullosos de liderar un proyecto de mural vibrante impulsado por la comunidad en colaboraci\u00f3n con los residentes locales y Faith Academy. Este mural de 400 metros cuadrados, ubicado en la pared trasera de Faith Academy en Broadway Street, refleja el esp\u00edritu, la cultura y la creatividad de nuestro vecindario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPoner esta marca aqu\u00ed significa que esta es nuestra comunidad y aqu\u00ed es donde queremos estar\u201d, comparti\u00f3 Shaquita Smith, residente del Distrito Sur y participante del mural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1s de 130 miembros de la comunidad, entre ellos adultos y ni\u00f1os, han contribuido al proceso de pintura. El artista local Nick Meister dise\u00f1\u00f3 el mural bas\u00e1ndose en ideas de los ni\u00f1os del vecindario, centr\u00e1ndose en animales, deportes e im\u00e1genes que representan la vida en el Distrito Sur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEste es un proyecto de base de 100%, dirigido por los residentes, que arrojar\u00e1 una luz positiva sobre nuestra comunidad\u201d, dijo Angie Jordan, una de las organizadoras principales del Distrito Comercial Sur del 6.\u00ba. \u201cEl mural es un testimonio de lo que podemos lograr cuando nos unimos con un prop\u00f3sito y creatividad\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aunque la pandemia de COVID-19 limit\u00f3 los planes iniciales para un gran evento comunitario con m\u00fasica y comida, el esp\u00edritu de colaboraci\u00f3n se mantuvo fuerte. Se implementaron medidas de seguridad para garantizar que los participantes pudieran contribuir de manera segura al mural mientras manten\u00edan el distanciamiento social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faith Academy, que alberga el mural en su edificio, est\u00e1 entusiasmada con su papel en el proyecto. \u201cEstamos entusiasmados por c\u00f3mo este mural contribuir\u00e1 a la comunidad y la reflejar\u00e1\u201d, dijo Doug Fern, director de la escuela Faith Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para muchos, el mural tiene un profundo significado personal. \u201cCuando eres constante con tus sue\u00f1os, estos se hacen realidad\u201d, dijo Smith, quien pint\u00f3 junto a sus hijos, Jaide y Jeremiah.
