Bump & Grub Rhythm
1st Thursdays, June – September
Join us every first Thursday, June – September as we grow the food truck scene in the South of 6 Iowa City Business District outside of the South District Market–947 US-6 in Iowa City.
Grab some grub from the food trucks and the indoor market, bump to the beats playing that day, hangout and eat on the outdoor patio or grab-and-go while supporting small businesses in the corridor–many minority-owned!
First one, June 6th will be from 12pm-8pm. The rest will be 4pm-8pm in the Pepperwood Plaza in the parking lot of the South District Market in Iowa City.
This pilot season is a team effort between Think Iowa City, Green State Credit Union, Rodney’s Jamaican Jerk & BBQ, Natural Talent Music, South District Market, South District Neighborhood Association, & South of 6 Iowa City Business District.
South Side Leisure Bike Rides
3rd Thursdays, May to Sept
6pm-7:30pm
Join the rides! All ages and skill levels are welcome on our 3rd Thursday of the month, 5th Annual May through September 6pm-7:30pm.
We’ll start each ride at the Broadway Neighborhood Center and explore the beautiful south side of town and maybe even beyond!
Plus, thanks to our partners, all riders will also get a free home-made, all natural popsicle from our south side ice cream shop inside Acapulco Mexican Bakery while supplies last.
This bike ride series started 5 years ago with long time bicycle advocate, South District resident and community builder, Bob Oppliger–he was passionate about so many things including empowering youth and families to feel confident riding their bicycles in the community where they live, work and play. Bob organized so many bike rides and educational bike rodeos for decades while also advocating for bicycling at the national level too! We celebrate Bob’s memory on these rides and as we come together as community to build relationships and to enjoy the beauty on this side of town.
All ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by a guardian.
We are also looking for Bike Leads and Sweep positions that help maintain a fun, safe ride for all. Please use link below to learn more and to sign up. This volunteering is a great way for high school youth to earn silver cord hours and for adults to give back and model being part of a team effort that uplifts an entire community WHILE having fun!

Hercules, a son of gods turned demi-god, needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. With his satyr mentor, Philoctetes, along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to defeat a series of evil creatures and stop the plans of Hades.
