Bronis Perteit is a dedicated advocate and community leader serving as the Director of Client Advocacy Services at the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) in Iowa City, Iowa. In this role, she leads initiatives to support survivors of intimate partner violence, ensuring they have access to critical resources, including emergency shelter, legal and medical services, and housing assistance. Her work is driven by a commitment to empowering individuals and families to rebuild their lives free from violence.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Bronis played a pivotal role in adapting DVIP’s services to meet increased demands. With social distancing limiting shelter capacity, she and her team found innovative solutions, including providing temporary housing in apartments and hotels. Her efforts, along with DVIP’s partnerships with local organizations, helped prevent evictions and homelessness for numerous families, offering both financial support and advocacy to help survivors achieve long-term stability.

Under her leadership, DVIP continues to expand its outreach and education efforts, raising awareness about domestic violence and ensuring that survivors know where to turn for help. Her compassionate approach, combined with her strategic problem-solving, has made a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals in the Johnson County area.

In addition to her advocacy work, Bronis holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Iowa and is pursuing a Master’s in Family Therapy to further her ability to support families in crisis. Her dedication to creating safe and supportive environments for survivors reflects her unwavering belief in the power of community and the importance of giving every individual the opportunity to thrive.
