Nancy Bird is a dedicated leader in community development and engagement, currently serving as President & CEO of Greater Iowa City, Inc. With over 25 years of experience, she has played a key role in driving economic growth and fostering vibrant communities. Previously, Nancy served as Executive Director of the Iowa City Downtown District for 11 years, where she led initiatives to revitalize the downtown area and strengthen local businesses.
Her career began with international service as a Peace Corps Volunteer and Team Lead in Niger, West Africa, showcasing her passion for community empowerment. She later honed her expertise as a Community Planner at AECOM, a Senior Associate at EDAW, and an Economics Analyst and Planner at Huckell/Weinman Associates, contributing to urban planning and sustainable development.
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Drake University and a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government from Illinois State University. Her leadership continues to shape thriving, connected communities in the Iowa City area.
