Monica Nieves Hirsch is a skilled relationship builder, strategic thinker, and creative communicator dedicated to promoting community engagement and economic growth. Based in Iowa City, Iowa, she currently serves as Vice President of Marketing & Communication at Think Iowa City, where she leads marketing strategies that enhance tourism, local engagement, and brand visibility. With over 7 years at Think Iowa City, Monica has spearheaded initiatives like Herky on Parade, FRYfest, RUN CRANDIC, and Foodie February, solidifying the area’s reputation as a vibrant cultural destination.
Monica is passionate about developing leaders and fostering collaboration. During her time at Greater Iowa City, Inc., she managed the Community Leadership Program, Executive Leadership Program, and launched the MetaDux Youth Leadership Program, nurturing future generations of leaders. Her career also includes marketing roles at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic, Converge Consulting, and running her own design business, Script & Ink Paperie.
A proud graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Spanish, and English, Monica also studied abroad at the University of Oviedo in Spain. Recognized as a Forty Under 40 Honoree and a certified Strategic Doing Practitioner, Monica combines creativity, communication, and leadership to create lasting impact in her community.
